A throwback, a find, and a glimpse at process

Our cat/s knocked over a framed picture that was propped against one of my art studio's walls last night. When I found the picture facedown this morning, I also found three drawings in a folder behind it. Surprise! I had stashed these strange little preliminary sketches of birds, predators, and antlered animals there for "safekeeping" over a year ago, and in the meantime had forgotten all about their existence. Colorado Parks and Wildlife -- Conservation Education Training

I had the distinct privilege of participating in a Project Wild training today through Colorado Parks and Wildlife in Denver. I met some great educators and CPW folks, learned a bunch, and even got a certificate. The great outdoors and the wise conservation thereof is very dear to my heart, and I am excited to incorporate those elements into the Woodland Park Parks and Rec Art Camps this summer!

Henri Matisse-inspired Works & Show @ Cottonwood

I became enchanted by Matisse this month, especially his latter works which were mainly gouache-painted paper cuttings. This is my head nod and salute to him, imagining what he may have created, had he ever visited Colorado and been intrigued by our wildlife.  16x20" acrylic-painted, cut, and collaged Arches paper.
